PS4 Pro vs Xbox One S vs Xbox One X

I am not an intense gamer. Let’s get that out of the way! But, I do have a love for video games and the enjoyment that comes with it. I currently own a PS4 and play NBA 2K17, FIFA 17 and Watch Dogs on a Magnavox 40″ LCD tv. I play it 5 times a month, maybe (my wife and I decided that I would only play on my days off). I am content with that. At least, I thought. But after seeing a few YouTube videos about the PS4 Pro, I started to think maybe I should upgrade my system.

I bought my PS4 in 2013, so roughly 4 years ago. The tech in these consoles have greatly improved since then with the addition of 4K quality, better hardware, efficiency and more “modern” design, so that’s a plus. But is it worth it? Let’s take a brief look.

There are currently three consoles in conversation. The PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and Xbox One X (due to release in November).  Being already in the Playstation family, I naturally gravitated toward the PS4 Pro, priced at $399 for a 1TB at Wal-Mart. Pros: 4K quality gaming (must have 4K capable TV to take advantage) and HDR capabilities. Cons: only select games can take advantage of this increased quality, there is no 4K Blu-ray  viewing, the console itself is BIG and lastly, the PSN isn’t as dependable as I would like. I’ve had many account issues that I will not go into.

The Xbox One S, priced at $299 for a 1TB bundle on the Xbox website, is next up. This console peaked my interest the most. Pros: it is very small in size, the price is right where I would like and it has the same quality features as the PS4 Pro with the addition of 4K Blu-ray capabilities. It is also a bundle (it comes with a game). Cons: I would have to switch to a whole new gaming eco-system

Last the Xbox One X, priced at $499, due to release in November. This is the future of high quality gaming, in my opinion. It has everything one could ask for in a console. Pros: true 4K gaming, UHD, HDR, 4K streaming and Blu-ray and the list goes on. Cons: the price and the November 7th release date. I would like to upgrade sooner rather than later. I cannot justify spending $499 for a game console that I’d only play maybe 4-5 times a month.

In conclusion, I think I am going to go with the Xbox One S, but what would you guys buy?
